Elisabeth Schneider
Elisabeth is a computer consultant by day and an avid knitter
by night. Taught to knit by her mother, Madeleine, she found it appealed
to her inner mathematician. She enjoyed simple symmetrical patterns
most and began modifying existing patterns to suit her tastes. A few
years ago she saw the Canaan Mohair display at a knitting festival
and was struck by a bright saffron mohair yarn. After repeated visits
to Canaan Farm to buy more yarn and show what she'd made with yarn
bought during previous visits, owner Shirley Browsky invited her to
submit her designs. The Madeleine Cardigan was the first design that
resulted from this invitation. It was well received at Stitches East,
K-W Yarn Fair and the Toronto Creative Sewing and Needlework Festival
this fall. Elisabeth is currently working on other designs for Canaan
Mohair.
